Soren Read
Soren [At the computer. Non-children's music is playing in iTunes]:
Jack?!
Daddy [Tired of listening to music from Jack's Big Music Show']:
We can listen to Jack.
Soren [Reaching for the mouse to change the song.]:
Soren do it.
Daddy: No, let Daddy do it.
Soren [Agitated]:
Soren do it! Soren do it!
Daddy: No, Soren, you can't read.
Soren [Frantically moving the mouse and clicking. It magically lands on a song from Jack. Looking smug.]:
Soren reeeeaad.
Talking on the Phone →
I talked to Soren on the phone on my way home from work today. He actually listened and responded appropriately. He would also repeat what I told him so that his daddy could know what we were talking about. It wasn’t that long ago that he was holding the phone, the remote, a hairbrush up to his ear thinking they were all phones. He’s growing up so fast. It’s just so amazing how...
Elodie Laughed Today →
It was music to my ears. We came home from the park, and I had her on my lap. Tucker (the dog) was running around like a goof, and all of a sudden, I heard this deep, throaty chortling. It was so cute. She has been smiling for weeks now, and it was really neat to hear her first little laugh. Sigh.
Relationships
Soren: paydoh please!
Trevor: oh, you want to play play-doh?
Soren: yeah!
Trevor: ok
Soren: (pointing at eyes) Soen. wake. Soen. wake!
Trevor: yes you are
Soren: (pointing at tub of play doh) Soen get. Soen get
Trevor: Let Daddy get it
Soren: Trevor. dad. Trevor dad. Trevor dad.

Harmonica. Sleepy.
– Soren, 2 years old, when wanting to bring his harmonica to the crib.
Fee fie fiddly eye oh-oh-oh →
We are taking classes at Fundamentally Music, and both Soren and Elodie really seem to be enjoying it. Soren was mimicking the teacher’s movements really well, and he does a great job following directions. (This is somewhat shocking to me since my pleas for assistance at home are oftentimes met with a smirk.) The only thing I didn’t like about class was that there were a couple of kids...
Soren's New Friend →
I can’t deny Soren anything. We went to IKEA today (first time since it’s been expanded), and he just picked up this crocodile and started carrying it around. At first we told him that he had to leave it, and he just got this heartbroken expression on his face. Like “Leave it? But who will love it?” So, we have yet another friend to add to the entourage. For those of you...
